Another day in Meadowlilly

Meadowlily

I took the opportunity to enjoy the weather and show a new friend one of my very favourite spots in London, Meadowlily Woods.  There was a lot going on there today.  The trilliums were at their peak, and we found hills just covered with them.

There were lots of different coloured ones ...

There were lots of other flowers as well...

These are trout lilies

Not sure what these ones are..

And May Apples (mixed in with more Trillium)

There were also lots of these guys rustling around.  I love garter snakes!

And Toads..

And lots of birds

Rose Breasted Grossbeak.  Lots of them around now. A fact I found about them is that they are one of the only songbirds whose female sings as well

Brown headed cow bird, I'm pretty sure. Interesting fact - they lay their eggs in other birds nests. Called "brood parasites" Their eggs, when they aren't covered over or pushed away by the other birds, typically hatch first to give them the advantage over the "host" birds own eggs!

There were also a bunch of foxes that we saw just after we left Meadowlilly.  There were some other people there and the guy says  - "don't go closer - we put food out for the foxes" What a twit - probably wonder bread.

Don't feed wild animals!!!
